Dr. Bode Olajumoke Donates Building to Support Disabled Scouts
As part of activities commemorating his 70th birthday, former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and philanthropist, Dr. Bode Olajumoke, donated a newly constructed four-bedroom chalet to the Lagos State Scout Council for the benefit of Disabled and Special Scouts.
The building, situated within the Baden Powell Training Centre in Ibeshe, Ikorodu, was established to provide suitable accommodation for Scouts with disabilities during training programmes and other scouting activities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dr. Olajumoke explained that the project was inspired by his desire to give back to society and promote inclusion for persons with disabilities. He noted that the land, which had been donated several years earlier, had remained undeveloped until the construction of the chalet, which will now serve as a dedicated facility for Disabled and Special Scouts in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Scout Council Commissioner, Chief Joseph Tawose, expressed appreciation for Dr. Olajumoke's generous contribution and acknowledged his longstanding support for the growth and development of scouting in Lagos State and Nigeria.
Also speaking at the commissioning, the Chief Commissioner of Scouts in Nigeria, Olori Omo Oba Olusoga Atibioke, commended Dr. Olajumoke's continued commitment to philanthropy. He encouraged other well-meaning Nigerians to support initiatives that improve the lives of vulnerable members of society, emphasizing the importance of using wealth to create lasting impact.
Dr. Olajumoke's donation reflects his enduring commitment to community development, inclusion, and youth empowerment—values that align with the mission of the Bode Olajumoke Education and Hospitality Initiative (BOEHI) to promote opportunities that improve lives and strengthen communities.
